Introduction to the Octagon

Lesson 1

Introduction to the Octagon

Octagon Theories

As a culture, a modern culture we like to pat ourselves on the back for all the things we think we know and understand. When the truth is most of what we believe we know is knowledge of ancient times. We also like to pick and chose what we will accept from the past, mostly because our ego will not allow us to admit when we are clueless about something.

Martial arts is one of these areas where ego rules and when it does learning STOPS. As Kyusho Jitsu Students you understand this aspect well. Those who know nothing about Kyusho are the most vocal. Truly I feel sorry for these kinds of people because they are pathetic.

Now the theories of the Octagon go back thousands of years. It is the science of movement and therefore natural laws. This course will be divided up into several courses covering beginners to master level movement.

In this beginners course I will cover the following.

  1. History of the Octagon
  2. 12-6-3 Theory
  3. Zig Zag Movement
  4. Balance of the body
  5. Factors of the opponent (Length, Width and Depth)
  6. Time and timing
